

Markos Katsanos is a technical analysis expert and trading systems developer. Over the course of his career, he has invented four technical indicators, two of which, the Finite Volume Element (FVE) and the Volume Flow Indicator (VFI), are widely used and integrated into many technical analysis software platforms. His Stiffness Indicator, designed to identify strong growth stocks and his most recent innovation, the Volume Positive Negative (VPN) indicator was designed to detect high volume breakouts.
Originally trained as an engineer with a master’s degree in structural engineering, Markos applied his analytical background to the financial markets, moving from fundamental analysis to technical analysis in 1997. With over three decades of experience in computerized analysis of stocks and futures, he specializes in creating profitable mechanical trading systems for his clients and for personal use.
Markos is contributing author to Technical Analysis of Stocks & Commodities magazine, author of Intermarket Trading Strategies (J. Wiley & Sons) and he has also made significant contributions to the official Chartered Market Technician (CMT) curriculum, authoring three chapters in the Level II textbook and nine chapters for Level III.
